1 PILOT DEAD AFTER AIRCRAFT COLLISION IN PORTUGAL AIR SHOW

Beja, Portugal- A Spanish pilot was declared dead and another pilot was injured after their planes collided mid-air and crashed while performing in a Portuguese air show.

Cameras captured two stunt aircraft colliding with another stunt plane mid-air, causing it to crash and explode during the air show at Beja Air Base.

The Portuguese Air Force organized the show and reported that the YAK STARS aerobatic patrol was involved in the accident.

The PAF referred to the patrol as the “largest civilian aerobatic team in southern Europe” and noted that it comprises pilots from Portugal and Spain.

Following the tragedy, the PAF canceled the largest air event in Portugal, the Beja Air Show.
