Gaza Strip, Palestine — On February 1, Saturday, Israel and Hamas group will conduct their fourth hostage-prisoner exchange amidst the Gaza ceasefire deal.
For this batch, Palestinian Prisoner’s Society spokesperson Amani Sarahneh said on Friday that the prisoners to be released on Saturday is 183, doubling the 90 prisoners announced to be freed.
These prisoners include 72 arrested before the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, and 111 from Gaza who were detained after the attacks.
In exchange to this, the armed wing of Hamas, the Qassam Brigades announced on Friday, that it will be freeing three Israeli captives.
They were named as Israeli-French citizen Ofer Kalderon, Israeli citizen Yarden Bibas and Israeli-American Keith Siegel. Bibas is the father of the youngest ISraeli captured by Hamas.
Under the terms of the Gaza ceasefire, Hamas must free 33 captives in the first six weeks of the truce in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, most of whom were serving life sentences in Israel.#
