6 DEAD IN BUSAN HOTEL CONSTRUCTION SITE FIRE

Busan, South Korea — Six died, while at least 100 were evacuated from a large blaze in a hotel resort construction site in Busan, South Korea on Friday.

Busan Gijang District Fire Department said that the fire was reported at around 10:20 in the morning, with hundreds of firefighters deployed to extinguish the large fire.

Six individuals were found unconscious on the first floor—where the fire is believed to have started. The six were later pronounced dead in the hospital.

Around 100 workers evacuated the site, 14 others rescued by helicopter on top of the structure. At least 25 people have sustained minor injuries from the incident.

While the cause of the fire remains unidentified, the fire agency noted that the fire may have broken out in the insulation material loaded near the indoor swimming pool area on the first floor.
