Manila, Philippines- A total of eight persons deprived of liberty (PDL) escaped from their jail in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, using a saw to cut through the window in the comfort room.
According to the latest report from the Philippine National Police, authorities have re-arrested four of the escapees, while the manhunt operation continues for the remaining four.
Authorities are also investigating how the saw was brought into the prison, and two police officers who were guarding the custodial facility have been fired.
CCTV footage shows six PDLs walking along San Pedro Street in Barangay Poblacion around three o’clock on Sunday morning.
The San Jose del Monte City Police reported that the remaining PDLs are all facing charges related to illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms.
The San Jose del Monte City Police have alerted neighboring towns and cities to conduct dragnet operations to capture the four fugitives.
