80% INCREASE IN DENGUE CASES BEING MONITORED – DOH

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) is currently monitoring the continuous increase in dengue cases in the country.

This follows after DOH recorded a higher 80% increase in cases for the past 2 months compared to the same period last year.

According to the agency, this is due to the consecutive storms and heavy rains that caused flooding.

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa meanwhile identified that Dasmariñas, Cavite as one of the dengue hotspots after recording 50-70 cases, and as a result, has been placed under state of calamity.

Health Department also recorded deaths of five young people due to dengue.

The DOH continues to remind the public to immediately consult doctors if they experience symptoms such as fever, rashes, loss of appetite, dizziness, vomiting, and others.

In line with this, the agency also called on the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and take immediate action to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

Local government units (LGUs) are also advised to implement various prevention and control programs in their areas.
