HOUSE APPROVES 18 OF 52 LEDAC BILLS BEFORE HOLY WEEK BREAK

Manila, Philippines – The House of Representatives on March 18 adjourned its session in line with the upcoming Holy Week break.

But before the adjournment, the members of the Congress were able to approve 18 of the 52 priority bills under the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac).

House Majority Leader Rep. Sandro Marcos said that among these 18 are the proposed bill resetting the first regular elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, which was now ratified in the bicameral conference committee; while the measure for the creation of the National Center for Geriatric Health is under the conference committee.

Also included in the 18 bills are:

– EPIRA Amendments: ERC Strengthening 

– Waste-to-Energy

– Amendments to the Government – Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education Act

– Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations Act

– Amendments to the National Building Code

– Blue Economy Act

– National Reintegration Bill

– Amendments to the Teachers Professionalization Act

– Extension of Estate Tax Amnesty Period

– Department of Water Resources Bill

– Amendments to the Bank Deposits Secrecy Law

– Travel Tax Abolition

– Digital Payments Act

– Amendments to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act

– Presidential Merit Scholarship Program

– Amendments to the Biofuels Act

Marcos also said that the National Land Use Act and the Amendments to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Act may be passed before the First Regular Session ends.

The Anti-Political Dynasty Bill is already placed at the Congress’ Calendar of Business and is positioned for plenary debates.

On the other hand, 6 LEDAC bills were already approved in their respective commitees and are under the Committee on Appropriations’ review; while 25 are under deliberations of either the technical working group or committees.
