Manila, Philippines — The statement by Senate Majority Leader Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri is in connection with the pending Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued by the Pasig Regional Trial Court regarding the P85 wage increase in the National Capital Region (NCR).
According to Zubiri, the filing of his resolution is a call for fellow senators to join him in taking action to lift the TRO so that the daily wage increase can finally be implemented.
He also said that the inadequate income of Filipino workers should no longer be withheld from them.
The resolution includes the gathering of signatures from majority and minority senators who will appeal to the judiciary to suspend the effect of the TRO, which temporarily halted the implementation of the Pasig RTC order until August 13.
It also highlights the unified position of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the National Wages and Productivity Commission, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, and millions of Filipino workers nationwide on the right to receive a fair, legal, and approved wage increase.
As of now, 22 senators have already signed the resolution, appealing that the implementation of the wage increase should not be delayed.
