Manila, Philippines – The Philippines and Japan signed diplomatic notes for the Build Universal Health Care Program (Subprogram 3) Emergency Support, funded through a government loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The loan for BUHC3 amounts to 30 billion Japanese Yen (approximately P11.54 billion) and aims to support reforms in sustainable financing and strategic purchasing for Universal Health Care in the country.
It also seeks to strengthen health service delivery, information management, and accountability regarding UHC performance.
The project will also be supported through co-financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Furthermore, the project aims to provide equitable health care services to address gender-specific health concerns and the health impacts of climate change.
This agreement follows the previously established Subprogram 1 (implemented from January 2019 to May 2021) and Subprogram 2 (implemented from July 2021 to September 2023). — Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
