Manila, Philippines — Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry R. Aguda assures the public that he remains committed to his responsibilities at the department amid alleged reports of his resignation.
In a statement, Aguda says that he is aware of the reports, but “at this time” he is focused on carrying out his duties.
“At this time, I remain focused on carrying out my responsibilities and ensuring the continuity of the Department’s work,” he wrote.
“In particular, as the Philippines hosts ASEAN this year, it is important that DICT continues to effectively fulfill its role in advancing our regional engagements on technology and innovation, including the ASEAN AI MSME event this week,” he said.
Without further context, he also said that he “fully recognize and respect the President’s [Bongbong Marcos] prerogative in matters concerning his Cabinet and his administration”.
“My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability,” he ended.
Directly addressing the issue, Malacañang denied the reported resignation of Sec. Aguda.
“Wala[ng] gano’ng impormasyon dahil kakausap pa lang natin kay Sec. Aguda, nagbigay siya ng larawan kay [PCO] Sec. Dave Gomez na patuloy ang trabaho niya as secretary ng DICT,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing in Singapore on Wednesday (October 7, 2026).
