MARCOS ‘NO REACTION’ OVER DUTERTE CLAN’S PLAN FOR 2025 ELECTIONS

Manila Philippines — President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. had no reaction on the plan of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s family to run for senator in the coming 2025 Midterm Elections.

According to Marcos, the Philippines is a free country when it comes to those seeking for posts in the office.

“It’s a free country. They’re allowed to do whatever they want. I really have no reaction,” said the President in the ambush interview.

Vice President Sara Duterte first revealed their family’s plan for the 2025 midterm elections.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte and Congressman Paolo Duterte will run as senators while Baste Duterte will reportedly run for the presidency in the upcoming 2028 presidential elections.

Marcos said it is too early to prepare for the 2028 National elections, but the Marcos’ camp will also look at the Duterte family’s plan when the filing of the certificate of candidacy comes in October.

“We’re talking about 2028, there are still many events between now and 2028. And the only real situation will become clear in October, in the filing,” added the President.

“Then we will see really if it will really run, who will really run, who, with whom, which parties are involved, which parties are in alliance, we will only see it in October so all of these announcements, let’s see if it will continue when it comes to October, explained the chief executive.

The Makabayan bloc in the lower chamber of Congress first criticized the expansion of the political dynasty of the Duterte family in political positions.

According to ACT Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro, they strongly condemn the Duterte clan’s plan.

It is said that running for any position in the government is being done as a business towards corruption.

“Running for government positions is turned into a business not only to embezzle but also to cover up their sins against the people. The Marcos family has done it now and the Duterte’s want to take over,” according to Castro.
