Manila, Philippines – Veteran actress Hilda Koronel will return to the big screen in a groundbreaking role in Sisa, a historical thriller set during the Philippine-American War.
The director of the film Jun Robles Lana excitedly shared an Instagram photo of the actress in her highly anticipated role, teasing fans with her new persona.
“She’s back. And she’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before,” Lana wrote.
The film follows the intense journey of Sisa, a woman who challenges societal expectations in a time when women were expected to remain silent.
Her character, seemingly mad and wandering the land, is revealed to be a fierce spy, seeking revenge against those who destroyed her life.

Sisa is a collaboration between The IdeaFirst Company, Octobertrain Films, Quantum Films, Cineko Productions, CMB Films, and Myanmar’s Forever Group.

Hilda Koronel is known for her iconic roles in now-classic films such as Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag and Insiang. Her latest movie appearance was in The Mistress in 2012.
