Manila, Philippines – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is also preparing to support the Philippine National Police (PNP) in ensuring security during the scheduled mass demonstration from November 16 to November 18.
This was assured by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. while stressing that the military will remain professional in the protest action.
Brawner also assured that no one from the Philippine Armed Forces will participate in the coup called by various groups.
The AFP is also reportedly monitoring the possibility of infiltrators who will attempt to disrupt the protest.
As the AFP received unverified reports regarding individuals who may throw grenades.
However, according to Brawner, these imposes alarms over the peace-loving countrymen.
Various groups have announced that they will hold a protest action beginning on November 16, Sunday.
The United People’s Initiative, and religious Iglesia ni Kristo and other groups are likely to participate to call for accountability for those involved in corruption scandal over the government’s flood control project.
On the PNP side, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is reportedly on full alert for the three-day protest action.
Nearly 17,000 NCRPO personnel are set to be deployed at and around the Quirino Grandstand and the People Power Monument on EDSA.—Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
