Manila, Philippines – History has been made as the Alas Pilipinas Men’s national team claimed their first-ever victory in the Volleyball Mens World Championship against Egypt.
The Mall of Asia Arena witnessed the roar of Pinoy fans this September 16, since they also manifested this victory.
The first set was neck and neck, neither team wanted to lose. But with Bryan Bagunas’ effective attacks and serve errors of Egypt, the Alas grabbed the first set.
In the second set, Egypt claimed the second set; tying the game.
The third set was led by Bagunas on the offensive end; the Philippine team is slowly favoring the game as the crowd goes wild, and boosts their morale and willpower. At the 20th point-mark, Alas sealed the third set.
Alas did not let Egypt grab momentum, making sure that they were in control of the game. And at the final play — the point block of Alas determined the Philippine Volleyball history.
The final scores of the game are 29-27, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21.
The superstars of the Alas Pilipinas showed their dominance; with Bryan Bagunas having 25 points, Leo Ordiales with 21 points, Marc Espejo with 13 points, and Joshua Retamar with 40 excellent sets.
The fans are truly satisfied with the performance of the team, and witnessed history in this game, and can claim the fact that Alas Pilipinas can compete with international teams.
