ALAS PILIPINAS, FAILS TO SECURE DEBUT GAME VS. TUNISIA IN 2025 FIVB VOLLEYBALL MEN’S WORLD CHAMP

Manila, Philippines – It’s that time!

The first game of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship did not disappoint, as the Alas Pilipinas showcased a thrilling match in its first-ever game in the competition.

The Philippines is the host, which makes them the crowd favorites and has the home court advantage in the three games they’re going to compete.

Despite those advantages, the first game was having the National team in a rocky situation, and yet to reach their own pace and momentum.

In the first set, Alas was overwhelmed by the tower blockers of Tunisia; leaving them with unanswered possessions and errors and suddenly bowing down with the scores of 13-25.

The second set showed minor improvements, as they executed their plays bit-by-bit, but the firepower of Tunisia was too much for the team — they failed to secure the second set with the score of 17-25.

The third set was pure cinema: both teams exchanging scores and not letting the opponents grab a momentum. It was a slap in the face for the Alas since they need to win this set to further proceed in the game.

All of the players inside the court of the Philippines were in sync; they managed to keep the game exciting and intense. The crowd roars as they yearn for the team’s success.

They’ve found a way to score without solely relying on the opponent’s errors. Blocking spikes, ace, and even tremendous sets by their setter.

The final play of the game ended with Tunisia’s strong serve, leading Alas scramble in the court, having Tunisia grabbing the opportunity to block the broken play to seal the win.

The score of the third set — 23-25.

The loss did not serve as a real loss for the team; all they have to do is to focus on the upcoming games.

Their next game will be against Egypt in Bracket A at Mall of Asia Arena, September 16.—Kyle Basa, Eurotv News
