A day after his oath-taking at Malacañang, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara joined other government officials on Saturday to launch Brigada Eskwela at Commonwealth Elementary School in Quezon City.
Angara was accompanied by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Acting Chairperson Romando Artes and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
In Bam Alegre’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, Angara also led the distribution of school supplies to the students.
In his speech, Angara mentioned that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to him was to prioritize the welfare of teachers, particularly regarding non-teaching tasks, the report stated.
Brigada Eskwela is DepEd’s annual nationwide cleaning and maintenance initiative in public schools to prepare for the new school year.
The 2024-2025 school year is set to begin on July 29, 2024.
