AT LEAST 16 KILLED IN RUSSIAN MISSILE STRIKE AT UKRAINE PRESIDENT’S HOMETOWN

Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine — Following another series of Russian missile strikes on Ukraine, at least 16 are dead, among 6 are children, in a strike on Friday, says Ukrainian authorities.

Local authorities reported that on Friday, a Russian missile attack hit Kryvyi Rih, leading to the killing of at least 16 individuals and over 50 injured.

Kryvyi Rih is Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown.

In a nightly address soon after the incident, Zelensky expressed grief and condolences to the families of those killed and injured, noting that the missile hit next to residential buildings.

Among the areas hit were a children’s playground, ordinary streets, and houses. From the 16 killed, 6 were children as per authorities.

Besides these, Zelensky said that Russia also targeted a power plant in Kherson with a drone on the same day of the attack, which was claimed as a violation of the energy ceasefire.

In contrast, the Russian ministry of defense said the strike targeted a meeting between Ukrainian and Western officers in one restaurant in the said city.

Russia claimed that 85 servicemen from the enemy and foreign officers were killed, as well as 20 vehicles were destroyed.

Ukraine said that these continuous attacks are a testament that Russia does not want a ceasefire at all.
