Baguio City, Philippines — The month of February marks the start of the month-long celebration of the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City.
Amid the celebration, the Baguio City Health Services Office (CHSO) reminded public of adhering to health regulations and precautionary measures as the city confirms two new cases of Mpox infection.
In a press release, CHSO reported that the two new cases are a male and a female—both 21 year old—that tested positive with the Clade II strain.
CHSO clarified that the two new cases have no known related with the previous cases in Baguio City. Patients 3 and 4 are currently under home isolation until February 16 and February 14, respectively.
Following this, CHSO is now coordinating with the City Tourism Council and other related local agencies to further implement health protocols and precautionary measures against the disease.
Especially due to the anticipated influx of tourists that will join the celebration of the Panagbenga festival.
The public is reminded to wash hands frequently, avoid skin-to-skin contacts, wear protective clothing in crowded places, consult medical professionals if symptoms persists, and stay home when Mpox manifests to avoid spreading the disease.
