BARANGAY GINEBRA TIES THE BEST-OF-7-GAME SEMIS SERIES TO 2-2 AGAINST SAN MIGUEL IN S50 PBA PH CUP

Manila, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra ties the best-of-7 game semifinals series of the 50th PBA season against sister company San Miguel in the standings of 2-2 yesterday.

SM Mall of Asian Arena witnessed the two teams battling each other out with neither backing down.

A back in forth back-to-back buckets of the two, and it was close until the final quarter of the 4th game.

The lead of Ginebra just widened when the team figured out how to stop the number one PBA player, “The Kraken” Jun Mar Fajardo.

Almost three players were guarding the beermen center in the paint, and there was no breathing room to begin with.

With that, it opened an opportunity to attack in the transition and gain points in fastbreaks.

Scottie Thompson managed to have his career high triple double to seal the victory.

He dropped 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Not only is he the best player of the game, but also the assist man, and rebounder of the game.

The final scores are 105 – 91.

According to head coach Tim Cone, he was surprised when Scottie’s offense erupted, leading his triple-double to tie the series in two games-apiece.

“I didn’t even know that Scottie was putting up that kind of numbers out. We’re just trying to figure out a way to win. It was a quiet triple-double in my mind… but I didn’t know what was going on. He was really just all over the court…” Tim Cone said.

“This guy was really showing a lot of leadership during those timeouts, really talking to the guys, telling them, you know… It was just one of those nights that were just Scottie just refused to lose tonight.” he added.

Game 5 of Ginebra vs. SMB will be held this Wednesday, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.—Kyle Basa, Eurotv News
