MANILA – Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has officially joined the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the political party led by his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa shared photos of the younger Duterte taking his oath as a PDP-Laban member on Thursday night, with his father administering the oath.
The photos also included two of the three PDP senators, dela Rosa and Senator Robin Padilla.
In a separate social media post, PDP-Laban announced that Mayor Duterte has been appointed as the party’s new executive vice president. He took his oath of office in front of the former President, who serves as the party’s chairman.
The post also mentioned that in addition to the senators, other PDP national officers such as Executive Director and Membership Committee Chairwoman Astra Pimentel, and Overseas Filipino Concerns Committee Chairman Coco Naik, were present.
Before Mayor Duterte’s appointment, Padilla held the position of executive vice president before becoming the party’s president.
“Welcome sa partido ng mga maisug, Mayor Baste!” the PDP wrote on its Facebook page.
