BI NABS SOME CHINESE NATIONALS FOR OVERSTAYING, VIOLATION OF IMMIGRATION RULES

Manila, Philippines – As the government intensifies its crackdown against illegal aliens in the country, 7 Chinese nationals were arrested separately in a span of one week over immigration law violations.

On January 29, BI Fugitive Search Unit nabbed two overstaying Chinese Nationals in Tacloban CIty.

Zhu Fulin and Wu Huoyan were caught in the act of operating an e-bike business despite having a tourist only visa.

Investigation revealed that Zhu have been overstaying since 2023, and Wu’s visa have been expired since 2020.

Zhu was unable to present any valid immigration document, while Wu attempted to misrepresent himself as a Filipino citizen by presenting a Philippine Identification Card.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested five Chinese nationals in separate operations in Zamboanga City and Kalinga over same violations.

Rongtian Shi was caught in the act managing business operations in a cellpone and accessories in Zamboanga City amid petitioned working visa in Quezon City.

In Tabuk City, Kalinga, Chinese man Huang Xilai was observed personally managing the cashier and business operations in a commercial establishment.

Records revealed that he is an overstaying alien as well, and has no valid visa or permit for business operations, and was only able to present a digital copy of his passport.

In another Barangay in Tabuk City, three other Chinese nationals, namely Huang Huifang, Huang Menggui, and Huang Mengjiao, were apprehended over similar violations.

All the apprehended foreign nationals are transferred in Manila for the legal procedures and deportation proceedings.

On the other hand, effective January 16, 2026, Chinese businessmen and tourists can enter and stay in the Philippines visa free for 14 days.

Visa free entry is only applicable via NAIA and Mactan-Cebu International airport, requiring a passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, confirmed accommodation, and return or onward ticket in the next country of destination.

This visa free privilege is non-convertible for other Philippine visa categories.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
