MANILA — Members of the popular girl group BINI have shared personal updates about how their families are faring during the onslaught of severe tropical storm “Kristine.” After their performance at “It’s Showtime’s” Magpasikat 2024, the members expressed deep concern for their families and those affected, especially in the hardest-hit areas.
Gwen, who is from Albay, was emotional as she spoke about her family’s situation. “We live there. I can’t say everything is okay because many places are flooded, but I’m grateful that my family is safe.
I just hope things get better and that everyone stays safe,” she said, adding that she had lost contact with some relatives due to power outages in parts of Bicol.
Mikha, also from Bicol, expressed gratitude for her family’s safety but remained worried for others. “My sister, mom, and dad are there now.
Like Gwen’s situation, I’ve heard the flooding is really bad, but thankfully, my family lives in a higher area where the flood didn’t reach. I just hope everyone else stays safe.”
The Bicol region has been severely affected by storm Kristine, with widespread flooding and significant damage.
Maloi, from Lemery, Batangas, mentioned how her relatives had also been impacted.
“My uncles and aunts from Lemery couldn’t come today because of the storm, which is for the best, so they could stay safe.
I’ve heard the storm is really strong in their area, so it’s better for them to stay and focus on their safety.”
Sheena, who hails from Isabela, updated her groupmates on her family’s status as well. “I’ve seen updates from my friends that their apartments are flooded, but I’m thankful my family is okay.
Our house isn’t flooded, but the rain and wind are really strong. I’m keeping in touch with them,” she said.
In response to the crisis, BINI has stepped up to help those in need. Together with their fanbase, Blooms, they have organized a donation drive called “BINIyanihan.”
Jhoanna, the group’s leader, shared, “We were already planning a donation drive for Christmas, but now, because of the storm, the need is more urgent. That’s why Blooms Philippines and our team have come together to help.”
