MANILA — Members of the popular girl group BINI sported masks and oversized hoodies, reminiscent of the iconic look of the world-famous JABBAWOCKEEZ dance crew, as they traveled to General Santos City on Friday for their “BINIverse” concert.
Fans hailed the outfits as the “biggest clapback,” interpreting it as a clever response to recent criticism BINI faced for wearing face masks and sunglasses during their arrival at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport on Sunday.
Some critics had labeled the airport outfits as “OA” (overacting).
On what fans dubbed “BINI Karma Day,” supporters of the girl group dismissed the “incomprehensible” hate directed at the Pinoy act.
Even the group’s staff, friends, and fellow artists like Filipino hitmaker Maki joined in by posting “satirical entries” on social media, wearing shades and masks.
BINI members also addressed their outfits on X, the former Twitter, quoting some of the criticism they received for their airport attire.
“Mga feeling dancer sino ba mga ‘yan?” BINI Stacey tweeted.
“Luh OA,” BINI Sheena added.
BINI Maloi shared a screenshot of another comment saying, “Sino ba mga ‘yan?”
On Facebook, BINI Aiah wrote a message about their getup: “It’s too late to apologize,” she said.
BINI’s concert in General Santos City is scheduled for tomorrow, July 20. It marks the final leg of their regional tour.
