Manila Philippines — The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Hon. Mauro Vieira is set to visit the country this coming Friday, August 23rd.
During Vieira’s visit, it is expected to sign an agreement on technical cooperation, including the peaceful use of outer space and in the field of education.
“Among the agreements slated to be signed during the visit cover technical cooperation, cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space, and education,” according to the statement of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said there will be a bilateral meeting between Secretary Enrique Manalo and Vieira together with the delegations of the two countries.
It is said that the current state of relations and consideration of opportunities for more advanced relationships between Brazil and the Philippines will be discussed between the two officials.
The two secretaries will also exchange views in the field of trade and investment, technical cooperation, agriculture, and defense among others.
“Secretary Manalo and Minister Vieira are expected to exchange views on a range of issues including trade and investments, technical cooperation, as well as cooperation in agriculture, defense, education, and in the multilateral arena,” the DFA said.
This is the first time that the Brazilian Foreign Minister will visit the country since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the Philippines, almost 80 years ago.
Also part of Vieira’s visit to the Philippines is the continuation of high-level dialogues which anchored from the 6th Bilateral Consultation Meeting that took place in 2023.
