A low-pressure area (LPA) has developed over the northern Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau PAGASA reported on Friday. The brewing storm was located approximately 290 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes at 3 p.m.
According to PAGASA, the LPA is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday and has the potential to intensify into a tropical cyclone.
In addition, the southwest monsoon is predicted to impact the northern tip of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms over the Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
PAGASA also forecast that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. The agency cautioned that severe thunderstorms may lead to flash floods or landslides in affected areas.
