CARAGA REGION LOSS DUE TO EL NIÑO HAS REACHED P700M – PBBM

BUTUAN, CITY- Under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos Jr. it distributed aid to farmers, fishermen and families at the Butuan City sports complex in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

According to the president, he noted that the total population reached fifteen percent and thirty percent of their livelihood was affected.

It added that it is estimated that about three thousand and seven hundred farmers and fishermen were directly affected by El Nino, while their agriculture lost about seven hundred million pesos.

Butuan City was also placed under a state of calamity on June 13 due to El Niño, which affected approximately 3,694 farmers and fishermen.

Marcos is said to have extended P158.15 million in financial assistance to the local government units of the region as part of the administration’s support to the affected farmers and fishermen.

The President also personally handed over P12.48 million in financial assistance to Surigao del Sur, P50 million to Agusan del Sur, P46.84 million to Butuan City, P28.26 million to Agusan del Norte; P10.57 million in Surigao del Norte, and P10 million in Dinagat Islands.
