Manila, Philippines – Cavite Representative Jolo Revilla issued a statement regarding the voluntary surrender of his father, former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., following the issuance of a warrant of arrest by the Sandiganbayan in connection with the alleged flood control scandal.
According to the lawmaker, his father chose to surrender voluntarily in order to directly face the accusations against him and to demonstrate his trust in the country’s justice system.
Rep. Revilla stressed that the move should not be interpreted as an attempt to evade responsibility, but rather as a principled decision to address the allegations through proper legal channels.
He further emphasized that the resolution of the case should take place inside the courtroom, where facts and evidence prevail, and where the rule of law, not speculation or public conjecture will determine the outcome.
The Cavite congressman also appealed to the public and the media to observe fairness and respect due process, underscoring that the case should be decided by the courts and not by the court of public opinion.
