CHINA CONDEMNS US OVER VENEZUELA OIL MOVE

Washington, United States — China has strongly criticized the United States over what it calls interference in Venezuelan oil.

In a press briefing Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson condemned the announcement of US President Donald Trump that Venezuela would hand over 30 to 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States.

Beijing said the move represents an escalation of US pressure on Venezuela, describing it as violating international law and undermines their sovereignty.

The spokesperson accused the US of bullying.

China has historically been Venezuela’s largest oil customer, importing heavily discounted crude.

However, tensions arise when the US imposes an export blockade on Venezuela during the last months of 2025.

Thus, the foreign ministry spox also stressed that the legitimate interest between China and Venezuela should be protected.

Earlier, Beijing also called for the immediate release over the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who were taken to New York to face multiple charges, including drug-related ones.

Both were captured after the US conducted an operation in Venezuela last Saturday.
