‘CHINA MADE VESSEL’ SUBMERGED AS A TARGET IN THE ONGOING BALIKATAN EXERCISE

Laoag Ilocos Norte – The BRP Lake Caliraya – an old China made oil tanker – was blown up as mock target by naval assets of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the US Armed Forces.

This is just one of the highlights of the ongoing Balikatan exercises between the Filipino soldiers and the American soldiers.

The position of the sunken old ship is at 8.5 nautical miles away in the coasts off Laoag in Ilocos Norte.

Filipino soldiers and American soldiers exchanged firing to blown up the mock target ship made in China.

This maritime strike drill also serves as a large part of training to strengthen the skills of Filipino soldiers and American soldiers.

And the commitment of the two countries in promoting joint operations and maintaining security in the region.

Aside from the sinking of the old ship of the Philippine navy, BRP Lake Caliraya, the air assets of the Philippine Air Forces, Blackhawk, were also targeted for strengthening capacity when it comes to firefighting.
