Manila, Philippines – The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) urges the public to report online scams directly to the Inter-Agency Response Center (IARC) hotline 1326, rather than ranting on social media.
This advisory came from CICC Executive Director Alexander Ramos following a series of unauthorized fund transfers from the e-wallet service Gcash on Saturday, November 9 which gained numerous complaints online.
“We encourage the public to report to CICC if they were affected by the recent e-wallet losses. We may be able to assist them if they call 1326 so they can be assisted instead of posting their missing cash on social media,” Ramos said.
Consequently, Ramos further explained that these platforms “will not in any way help you resolve losses in your e-wallets.”
Meanwhile, Gcash reassures on Sunday, November 10 that it has completed the necessary wallet adjustments to users who experienced unauthorized transactions.
“As of yesterday, GCash has completed the necessary wallet adjustments to its affected users,” Gcash said.
“Rest assured that customer accounts are safe, and customer account security will always be our top priority,” the Ayala-owned Gcash added.
