The Commission on Elections (Comelec) concluded the third day of the week-long filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) on Thursday, with 12 new senatorial aspirants and 9 party-list groups joining the race.
“As of the close of today’s filings for senators and party-lists, we have recorded nine party-list organizations. This brings our total since October 1 to 34 party-list groups,” Comelec Chairman George Garcia told reporters.
“For senatorial candidates, we had 12 filings today, bringing the total number of aspirants to 39,” Garcia added.
Here’s the list of senatorial aspirants who filed their COCs on Day 3:
- Jose Bunilla, Independent
- Jaime Balmas, Kilusan Bagong Lipunan
- Dr. Willie Ong
- Senator Ronald Dela Rosa
- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go
- Actor Philip Salvador
- Elpidio Rosales Jr., Kilusan Bagong Lipunan
- Robert Agad, Independent
- Khaled Casimra, Independent
- Jimmy Salapantan, Independent
- Rex Noel, Independent
- Roel Pacquiao, Independent
The following party-list groups have also filed their candidacies for seats in the House of Representatives:
- Alyansa Agila Para sa Bayan Inc. (1-Agila)
- Solo Parent Working for Economic Rights and Other Thrusts for Equality (SWERTE)
- FPJ Panday Bayanihan
- Barangay Health Wellness (BHW)
- Solidarity of Northern Luzon People (Solid North)
- Health Workers Partylist
- Agrikultura Ngayon Gawing Akma at Tama (Angat)
- Ahon Mahirap
- Kamalayan ng Maralita at Malayang Mamamayan, Inc. (Kamalayan)
On the first day of filing, 17 senatorial aspirants and 11 party-list groups submitted their candidacies. Meanwhile, Day 2 saw the filing of COCs from 10 more senatorial hopefuls and 11 party-list groups.
Garcia also noted that the filing process has remained peaceful and orderly since it began.
“Based on our operations center’s report, no incidents of violence, irregularity, or disturbance were recorded at any of our filing sites, and everything continues to be generally peaceful,” Garcia said.
The filing period for COCs will run from October 1 to October 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
