MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported that from 2023 to the first quarter of the current year, they received 126,000 calls through their free call center facility Hotline 1349 from workers with complaints or issues regarding their employment.
According to DOLE, the top concern raised by the employees include issues concerning separation pay, computation of holiday pay, suspension, termination, and insufficient contributions from their employers to SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG and other benefits.
Last year, the hotline representatives responded to 83,683 queries on labor standards; 9,177 queries on social protection and welfare; 4,171 queries on employment facilitation, including TUPAD and youth employment programs; and 1,329 queries on labor relations.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2024, the hotline received 24,649 calls on labor standards; 3,100 calls on employment facilitation; 1,549 calls on social protection and welfare; and 278 calls on labor relations.
DOLE encourages Filipino workers in the country to continue reaching out to their offices for assistance.
