DAILY AVERAGE INCOME OF TRICYCLE DRIVERS GOES UP AFTER ANTI COLORUM DRIVE OF LTO

MANILA PHILIPPINES – The average daily income of legitimate tricycle drivers in some parts of Quezon City went up to almost 50% in mas intensified anti-colorum drive and “No Plate, No Travel” policy of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

According to some members and leaders of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) from the 800 pesos daily income of the tricycle drivers it went up to P1,200 in the past three days.

Along with this, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said to all members and leaders of toda that this will keep their operation with the help of the local government unit of Quezon City.

He said the LTO is happy to be able to provide a solution to tricycle operators and drivers by implementing an aggressive campaign against unlicensed and colorum tricycles.

“Ito ay isa na namang patunay kung gaano naapektuhan ng colorum vehicles ang kita ng ating
mga kaibigan sa transport sector na lumalaban ng parehas,” said Mendoza.

According to the agency’s report, up to three thousand plate backlogs have been addressed for tricycles in the city.

A total of 38 tricycles were apprehended in the first day of implementation in Quezon City on July 1. The following day, a total of 32 tricycles were apprehended.

The LTO is now consolidating the data for the weekly release of the operation in Quezon City.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa Quezon City LGU under the leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte at sa mga TODA leaders and members sa patuloy na pakikiisa sa layunin nating walisin ang mga colorum vehicles sa kalsada,” Mendoza added.
