DEPED, EXPEDITES LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION WITH EPA’S HELP

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) has expedited the distribution of laptops to teachers and employees with the early procurement activity (EPA).

According to Deped Zambales School Division Superintendent William Roderick Fallorin, the EPA was implemented, most of all by Education secretary Sonny Angara, to address the delay in the bidding and procurement process.

Out of the 33,539 laptops for the teaching program, 9,466 have been distributed, meanwhile 3,255 units out of the 5,360 for non-teaching staff have been handed out.

In addition, 6,634 smart tv packages out of 25,949 units purchased have also been distributed to schools.

Meanwhile, DepEd strongly exposed other types of administrative scams like the pay for position scheme which Angara called a “serious violation”
