Manila Philippines – Makasaysayan ang kauna-unahang pagbisita ni Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Hon. Mauro Vieira sa Pilipinas, dahil sa loob ng mahigit 80 taon mula nang maitatag ang bilateral na relasyon ng Pilipinas at ng Brazil, ito ang unang beses na bumisita ang naturang opisyal sa bansa.
Dalawang kasunduan ang nilagdaan sa pagitan ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo at ni Vieira pagdating sa technical cooperation, at sa education cooperation.
Inaasahan ding malalagdaan ngayong araw ang kasunduan sa pagitan ng Brazil at ng Pilipinas patungkol sa peaceful uses of outer space.
“We have just finished a comprehensive discussion on a number of topics of common concern to the Philippines and Brazil, and as we just witnessed, signed the agreements in Technical Cooperation and Educational Cooperation, which we envision will steer the bilateral cooperation agenda towards the achievement of shared development goals,” sabi ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.
“Tonight, we will also be signing the agreement on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, a new area of cooperation that will strengthen the linkages between the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB),” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Nagpalitan din ng pananaw ang si Manalo at si Vieira pagdating sa sektor ng depensa, seguridad, kalakalan at pamumuhunan.
Dahil itinuturing daw ng Brazil bilang isang mahalagang kaalyado ang Pilipinas sa pagdating sa pagpapanatili ng stabilidad sa Indo-Pacific region at mga kaalyadong bansa sa Southeast Asia.
“Minister Vieira’s visit is a clear demonstration of Brazil’s commitment to deepen its engagement with Asia, especially ASEAN and the Philippines. It is a partnership that transcends distance and language barrier and one that is rooted in our mutual desire to improve our peoples’ well-being and prosperity,” sabi pa ni Manalo.
Inihayag din ni Vieira ang interest na mapalakas ang depensa sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Brazil sa pamamagitan ng pagpapadala ng mga air assets at sa aspeto ng edukasyon, maging sa pagsugpo ng epekto ng Climate change sa pagitan ng dalwang bansa.
“I am enthusiastic about the good prospects for increasing dialogue and cooperation between Brazil and the Philippines in many areas. I would like to invite all stakeholders in both countries to join us in building a stronger bilateral partnership,” sabi ni Vieira.
Inihahanda na rin daw ng Brazil ang pag-host ng ika-7 Bilateral Consulation Mechanism na magaganap sa susunod na taon.
Ipinahayag din ng dalawang foreign minister ang pagsasaayos nila ng high-level meeting sa pagitan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at ni Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
