DFA REJECTS CHINESE EMBASSY’S TRAVEL ADVISORY TO ITS CITIZENS IN PH

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has refuted the statement made by the Chinese embassy in Manila regarding the alleged travel advisory for Chinese nationals arriving in the country.

In an advisory issued by the Chinese embassy on August 30, Beijing urged Chinese nationals to be vigilant and prioritize their safety while being in the country.

China linked the travel advisory to the alleged repeated criminality targeting Chinese nationals.

The DFA countered, saying that China’s statement mischaracterizes the situation in the Philippines.

The Philippines insists that crimes involving Chinese nationals having committed violations against their fellow Chinese citizens, are being addressed by relevant law enforcement authorities.

The government said they remain committed in continuing to coordinate with stakeholders on related cases and while maintaining coordination with Beijing.
