Manila, Philippines – In a ceremony coinciding with the 127th anniversary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), outgoing DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo formally turned over the leadership to new Secretary Ma. Teresa Lazaro.
Manalo thanked the DFA personnel for his career, both as a diplomat and as part of the DFA for 45 years.
Manalo assured that he will continue to support the government’s desire to maintain the Philippines’ good image in the international arena and maintaining the independent foreign policy of the current administration.
Some of Manalo’s achievements include strengthening the Philippines’ engagement with the international community and expanding ties with many countries when it comes to the defense and security.
Also, maintaining the sovereignty and rights of the Philippine territory.
Lazaro thanked his predecessor, Manalo, for his good start as head of the department.
Along with ensuring to continue the good relationship of the Philippines with other countries.
Lazaro officially took her oath at the Malacañang Palace as DFA secretary before the president.
Manalo was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as Philippine permanent representative to the United Nations in Washington DC.
Manalo will also try to secure the Philippines’ seat on the United Nations Security Council. – Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
