Manila, Philippines – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has issued an advisory due to the rising number of phishing scams following a reported exposure of data from Google’s Salesforce database, including information from Gmail and Google Cloud users.
Although no passwords were compromised, scammers are allegedly using victims’ names, companies, and contact information to deceive others.
The DICT reminds the public never to share your password, as Google will never ask for it.
They also recommend using Google Security Checkup, enabling 2FA (two-factor authentication) or Passkeys for added security, and carefully checking the sender and URL before clicking on any link.
Suspicious activity should be immediately reported to the CICC Hotline 1326.
The DICT is already coordinating with Google and Scam Watch Pilipinas to prevent the spread of phishing attempts.—Ella Corazon, Eurotv News
