MANILA – Fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy remains in the Philippines, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos confirmed this on Thursday, stating, “Sinisiguro namin na talagang si Pastor Quiboloy hinahanap namin.”
“Sa aming report, lumalabas na nasa Pilipinas po ho si Pastor Quiboloy… sa report na ibinigay sa akin,” Abalos added.
This statement follows a recent revelation by a senator that another controversial figure, former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, had fled the country last month.
Guo faces allegations of facilitating the operations of an illegal gambling hub in her town, leading to a Senate order for her arrest due to her refusal to attend its hearings.
On Thursday, authorities reported that two of Guo’s companions were apprehended in Indonesia.
In the meantime, Quiboloy is suspected to be hiding within the 30-hectare compound of his religious group in Davao City. Quiboloy is wanted for charges of sexual abuse and human trafficking, with a P10 million bounty on his head.
