Manila, Philippines – Following his voluntary surrender at the PNP Camp Crame on Monday night the Department of the Interior and Local Government DILG assured the public that no special treatment will be accorded to former senator Bong Revilla Jr.
Revilla was earlier served with an arrest warrant and a departure order by the Sandiganbayan in connection with the alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
According to SILG Jonvic Remulla, despite close connections with the former senator, he emphasized that Revilla, along with the other accused, will be treated the same as all Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in accordance with the law.
Aside from Revilla, six other officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways are already under custody while one remaining DPWH official is still at large.
The former Senator is now at the Sandiganbayan for the determination of his place of detention.
He also surrendered his 20 firearms including the long firearms.
In his social media post on Monday night, Remulla mentioned that he did not go through due process.
The accused face charges of graft and the non-bailable offense of malversation of public funds through falsification of public documents.
