DILG SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES PALENG-QR PH PROGRAM IN 180 PUBLIC MARKET OF LGUs 

Manila, Philippines – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) are promoting the ‘Paleng-QR Ph Plus’ Program for digital or cashless payment through the national standard for quick response (QR) codes in markets, public transportation, and other businesses.

More than 180 Local Government Units (LGUs) nationwide are continuing to implement the Paleng-QR Ph Program, five in the National Capital Region, 127 in Luzon, 33 in Visayas, and 15 in Mindanao.

According to DILG-BSP Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01, series of 2022, the program is part of the government’s National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2022 to 2028, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to promote sustainable development at the grassroots.

The Paleng-QR Ph is a mobile device that can be used to make payments without using cash.

Meanwhile, to encourage local governments to cooperate with the DILG and BSP’s desire to facilitate payment transactions, continues to provide technical assistance for account onboarding, digital payment systems, and financial literacy in the country. 

The initiative aims to speed up the public’s payment transactions using cashless payment, especially for microentrepreneurs to have access to better financing options, in this way, people will be further protected from various bacteria that can be obtained from money. —Ella Corazon, Eurotv News
