Manila Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is now intensifying the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to Kuwait.
Although the Philippine government has lifted the restrictions on sending OFWs to Kuwait, there are new parameters laid out by the DMW to the Kuwaiti government regarding the deployment of Filipinos.
This includes making sure that the OFWs will go through the proper deployment process and the labor code of the Kuwait, to prevent the abuse of Filipinos – such as the murder case of Julebee Ranara.
“The resolution is a continuing manifestation of the cordiality, of the friendship between the two nations established by no less than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, and then Kuwaiti Crown Prince and now Emir Sheikh Meshal back in October 2023,” according to Cacdac in the press briefing on Tuesday.

Part of the certainty in the new regulation of sending OFWs is the Blacklisting and Whitelisting of Recruitment companies that are part of the agency’s deployment program.
Also the use of electronic payment to ensure that OFWs are being paid correctly.
The DMW is expected to reopen sending OFWs to Kuwait in the next two weeks or so.

Meanwhile, DMW Regional Office in Mindanao also shut down the operation of the illegal recruitment agency that offers jobs in Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Romania, Croatia, Malta, Greece, Canada, UK, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
DMW said Jonieza Joy travel & tours Agency & Consultancy charges applicants a placement fee of P230,000.
This is the 11th illegal recruitment hub shut down by the DMW this year.
