DOJ ASSERTS NO FORMAL US REQUEST YET FOR QUIBOLOY EXTRADITION

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday insisted that the Philippines has not formally received any request yet from the United States for appointed Son of God and Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s extradition.

This response came after Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel “Babe” Romualdez’ revelation on Wednesday saying that the US have sent the DOJ an extradition request for Quiboloy.

DOJ Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic Clavano IV noted that before the agency, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) would be the first to receive such requests.

And as the DFA has not received one, so has the DOJ, Clavano clarified.

Quiboloy’s camp, through his lawyer Atty. Israelito Torreon, have not yet received any official document for the matter.

If they do receive one, Torreon said that they respect the prerogative of the US in such a request.

Earlier, the DOJ said that Quiboloy’s extradition will not be possible as of the moment as he still has pending cases in the Philippines.

Since November 2024, Quiboloy have been detained at Pasig City Jail as he faces charges on qualified human trafficking, child abuse, among others.

Meanwhile, the US Justice Department likewise seeks for Quiboloy’s extradition to face charges of sex trafficking by force and of children, fraud and coercion, and cash smuggling in the US.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
