The southbound section of the EDSA-Kamuning flyover in Quezon City is scheduled to reopen in August following extensive repairs, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Saturday, July 13.
In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, Loreta Malaluan, the DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) regional director, stated that the repairs are ahead of schedule.
Malaluan added that retrofitting of the lower section of the flyover is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Once the EDSA-Kamuning flyover reopens, the DPWH will focus on the restoration of the Magallanes flyover, which will involve replacing its expansion joints.
“Papalitan natin ang expansion joints ng Magallanes flyover,” Malaluan said, describing this work as a minor repair.
She mentioned that the expansion joint replacement is slated to start in August, with a contract completion date of March 2025.
Regarding the rehabilitation of the Guadalupe bridge, Malaluan clarified that it is a project of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, not the DPWH-NCR.
She emphasized that the Guadalupe bridge will not be entirely closed to traffic; instead, a diversion or parallel bridge will be constructed to mitigate disruptions during the rehabilitation.
Finally, Malaluan assured the public that the contractor responsible for the repairs is reputable.
