DTI ASSURES PUBLIC: NO NEED FOR PANIC BUYING AMID STABLE FOOD SUPPLY

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured the public that there is no reason to engage in panic buying or hoarding, as there is sufficient food supply in the market.

Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque emphasized that essential goods remain adequately available nationwide.

She also reminded consumers that grocery stores and public markets display bulletin boards listing more than 200 items with suggested retail prices (SRP), covering basic commodities such as canned goods, rice, bread, soap, sugar, and other essentials.

The SRP Bulletin Guide for Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities, under the jurisdiction of the DTI, remains effective from February 2, 2026 to April 30, 2026.

Recently, the DTI conducted inspections in several grocery stores across the National Capital Region to ensure that prices of these products comply with the agency’s prescribed SRP.
