Manila, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) welcomed and expressed its gratitude for the signing of the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, January 5, which once again allocated the largest portion of the national budget to the education sector.
Under the signed 2026 National Budget, education received the highest allocation amounting to ₱1.345 trillion. According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), this represents 4.36 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
In light of this, Education Secretary Sonny Angara assured the public that the allocated funds will be properly and effectively utilized for the benefit of students, teachers, and schools nationwide.
DepEd emphasized that the substantial budget allocation reflects the administration’s continued commitment to making education a top priority, recognizing it as a foundation of national development.
