Manila, Philippines – EUROTV Philippines officially unveils the Top 10 Heroes of the Year, recommencing the Gawad Pilipino Awards hero of the year.
Dr. Danilo B. Mangahas, the CEO/President of the EUROTV Philippines, who is also the founding Chairman of the Gawad Pilipino Awards emphasized that this is part of the continuing advocacy of the Gawad Pilipino Foundation, which initially launch the Hero of the Year awards amid the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, recognizing the frontline workers.
Mangahas said through recollection, this aims to recognize Outstanding Filipinos in different field of endeavors across the world – a modern-day heroes that stood as frontliner amid any challenges faced by Filipinos.
The awarding aims to recognize different sectoral leaders or personalities that has contributed significantly to the Filipino communities.
“Ni-recognize ng Gawad Pilipino ‘yung mga frontliners natin, ‘yung mga kapulisan, ‘yung mga health workers natin para gawin silang Hero of the Year,” Mangahas said in an interview.
“Kaya lang, this time, gusto natin i-launch ‘yung ating EuroTV Hero of the Year kasi gusto natin kilalanin yung mga Pilipino sa iba’t ibang larangan. Hindi lang sa Pilipinas, kundi yung mga Pilipino sa iba’t ibang bansa. Kaya ‘yung atin Ten Hero of the Year, gusto natin i-recognize this year, kasi alam naman natin napakaraming mga nangyaring sakuna sa bansa natin,” he added.
Through recognizing the exemplary efforts of the modern-day heroes, Mangahas underscored the aspirations of supporting whole-of-government supports and advocacies that has impacted the lives of underserved communities, indigenous peoples, among others.
“Una-una, ang pagbibigay ng Top 10 Hero of the Year ng Euro TV News doon sa mga binigyan natin para hindi ipagyabang ‘yung kanilang nagawa,” Mangahas emphasized.
“Ginawa natin ito para ipakita natin sa buong mundo na may mga ganitong tao, may mga ganyang layunin, may mga ganyang adbokasiya para mapalawak natin yung mga tao pang gustong tumulong doon sa kanilang adbokasiya. Kasi naniniwala ang Euro TV News, hindi lang tayo nagbibigay ng balita, hindi lang tayo nagbibigay ng impormasyon, kumikilala rin tayo doon sa mga tao nakakasalamuha natin. At gusto natin ipakita sa buong mundo na ‘yung ganitong organisasyon na kinilala ng Euro TV News na dapat lang tinutulungan, para mas mapalawak at mas maraming mabigyan ng tulong ‘yung kanilang tinutulungan,” he underscored.

Dr. Jennifer Boles, through her foundation, has made significant contributions to improving access to clean drinking water in underserved communities. By constructing water wells, particularly for the Ayta Ambala Tribe in Sitio Papaya, Castillejos, Zambales, she has addressed a critical need for potable water in these Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities.

Maricel Salinda Kasaligan is a dedicated educator from the Blaan tribe, based in General Santos City. Through her innovative teaching methods, she emphasizes the importance of preserving the rich heritage of the Blaan tribe.
This includes hands-on activities where students learn to create traditional instruments, engage in cultural chants, and perform traditional dances. She also teaches them the art of making native clothing and accessories, ensuring that these skills are passed down through generations. By doing so, she not only preserves the intricate designs and craftsmanship of the Blaan culture but also fosters a deeper understanding of their Indigenous Knowledge Systems and practices (IKSP).
MR. EUGIENE ‘GINO’ ZAMORA SALOM
‘BATANG CALAMBA HERO”
Eugiene Zamora Salom, is a dedicated community leader and philanthropist. He completed his basic education at Laguna College of Business and Arts and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science there.
Known as GINO, he exemplifies servant leadership. He left college to serve in the Philippine Army, where he earned multiple military honors. Gino later completed a Bachelor of Science in Theological Studies in 2014 and a Doctorate in Philosophy, majoring in Corporate Security, in 2020.
In 2021, he was recognized as an Outstanding Businessman and Philanthropist by the PMPC Star Awards and became a Hall of Famer at the Asian Sterling Award from 2020 to 2023. His philanthropic efforts include donating 30 million pesos worth of COVID-19 test kits during the pandemic and providing medical services, financial assistance, and educational support through his Tahanan ni Gino Foundation.
An animal lover, Gino owns SBK South PH, a dog breeding business, and has established a mini-zoo for the community. He is also an aspiring congressman for Calamba’s Lone District in the 2025 elections, promoting his slogan “GALING at SIPAG Distrito Uunlad.”

POLICE CALABARZON HERO
Paquito Chan Jr. is a dedicated member of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the Philippine National Police (PNP) CALABARZON, a unit that plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and order in the region. His primary responsibilities include the apprehension of most wanted persons involved in various criminal activities, which is essential for ensuring the safety and security of the communities within CALABARZON. This region, which encompasses the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon, faces unique challenges related to crime and public safety, making the work of law enforcement personnel like Chan particularly significant
Chan is deeply committed to social advocacy. He actively participates in initiatives aimed at uplifting underserved communities across the Philippines. Through the organization he is affiliated with, he engages in various outreach programs that provide essential services, resources, and support to marginalized groups. This dual commitment to both policing and community service highlights Chan’s holistic approach to public safety, recognizing that crime prevention is not solely about enforcement but also about addressing the root causes of social issues.
Chan’s exemplary service has not gone unnoticed; he is a multi-awarded PNP personnel, having received numerous accolades for his contributions to law enforcement and community service.

Free wheelchairs Missionary
Dr. Carlo Batalla established Batalla Cares, a philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) by providing them with free wheelchairs. Recognizing the mobility challenges faced by these individuals, the foundation aims to enhance their independence and overall well-being.
Through these initiatives, Dr. Batalla’s foundation not only addresses immediate mobility needs but also fosters a culture of compassion and support for some of the most vulnerable members of society. As of the moment Batalla Cares has donated over 102,273 free wheelchairs across the country.
