Ex-Mayor Alice Guo Held in De Lima’s Former Cell: No Special Treatment, Says PNP

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed on Friday that former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, recently dismissed from her post, will be held in the detention room previously used by former Senator Leila de Lima during her legal battle.

During a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo presented the “modest” room where Guo will be housed while in their custody.

“Yang detention facility na yan ay isang payak na kwarto, may CR, may maliit na table at higaan, walang aircon. Ceiling fan lang,” Fajardo said.

“This is the same room na in-occupy ni Sen. De Lima nung siya po ay ma-detain sa custodial facility,” the spokesperson added.

Former Sen. De Lima was detained for almost seven years after facing drug charges filed by the Duterte administration, which she claimed were politically motivated due to her vocal opposition to the war on drugs. She has since been acquitted.

Guo is under the custody of the PNP following her decision not to post bail on charges filed before a Tarlac court. She is accused of supporting the operation of an illegal POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac.

The PNP assured that Guo will not receive any special treatment during her detention.
