Fil-Am Singer Kay Sibal Wows ‘The Voice US’ Coaches with Jazz Performance

Filipino-American singer Kay Sibal captivated the coaches of The Voice US with her rendition of Laufey’s “From the Start” during the Blind Auditions. Sibal, a 24-year-old from Los Angeles, California, impressed three of the four coaches, with only country icon Reba McEntire opting not to turn her chair.

“I loved the jazziness of that song and how you controlled your voice, breaking down specific parts with such confidence,” remarked coach Snoop Dogg. “You were happy, you were excited, and you took full advantage of this moment.”

Gwen Stefani, who also turned for Sibal, expressed her enthusiasm. “I feel like I could be the perfect coach for you. Your heart is wide open, and it comes through in your performance. You have incredible potential, and I know exactly how to help you bring that out.”

Michael Bublé added, “You made that song entirely your own, and that blew me away. If there’s an artist who can break through from jazz to pop, it’s you. This is the journey I’m meant to take with you. I’ve spoken to Laufey about preserving this kind of music, and I believe we can do that together too.”

McEntire, the only coach who didn’t turn, explained that she felt she didn’t have a chance after seeing the other three turn for Sibal. “You have a lightness in your voice that allows you to go wherever you want, and it was just beautiful,” McEntire commented.

In the end, after listening to the feedback, Sibal chose Gwen Stefani as her coach.
