Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo has qualified for the vault finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics gymnastics tournament. Yulo, who is known for his prowess in the floor exercise, averaged 14.683 in the vault qualifiers to finish sixth. Only the top eight gymnasts advance to the finals.
This is not the first time Yulo has reached the vault finals at the Olympics. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he also qualified for the vault finals but narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth. However, Yulo did manage to post the highest score in the second pass among the eight competitors, scoring 14.866.

Yulo’s impressive performance at the Paris Olympics qualifiers has raised hopes among Filipino fans that he might finally clinch an Olympic medal in the vault event. The 24-year-old gymnast is also set to compete in the floor exercise and all-around finals.
Prior to the Paris Olympics, Yulo has already proven his mettle in the vault event. In the 2021 World Championships, he won the gold medal in the vault. He also bagged two more gold medals in the vault and parallel bars at the 2022 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Singapore.
With his wealth of experience and impressive track record, Carlos Yulo is poised to make a strong bid for an Olympic medal in the vault finals on August 4.
