The Philippine embassy in Israel sadly announced the death of a Filipino soldier in the midst of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
The Filipino was identified as Seargent First Class (Reserves) Cydrick Garin, he was among the 21 Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who died in an explosion in Gaza.
According to the Israel Embassy, the explosion on January 22 was allegedly carried out by the Palestinian-run group Hamas.
Garin is said to be the son of two Filipinos living in Tel Aviv.
His mother is a native of Isabela, and his father is from General Santos.
The Philippine Embassy in Israel is said to be handling the evacuation of the remains of Sgt. Garin returning back to Israel.
Along with their commitment is the support for the grieve of his relatives.
The 23-year-old member of the Israeli Army, is a member of the 8208th battalion of the 261st brigade.
It was April 2021 when Sgt. Garin was recognized by the Southern Command as an outstanding soldier in their unit.
He is the fourth Filipino among the death roll amid the on-going war between Israel and Palestine.
